Ferry Reservations & Directions

Tours depart from Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington, which is centrally located to where the orca whales travel, feed and play.

To get to Friday Harbor, either drive or walk on a Washington State Ferry at the Washington State Ferry Terminal in Anacortes, WA, just 90 miles or 1.5 hours north of Seattle (Exit 230 off I-5), or fly directly from SeaTac International Airport, Boeing Field or Lake Union via a land plane or float plane.

Washington State Ferry Reservations are now available!  We highly recommend making a reservation, especially from May through September and for holiday weekends. Click on the button below which takes you to www.takeaferry.com.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Reservations are released in 3 tiers to accommodate long and short-term planning by visitors and residents. The first 30% are released 2 months before the first day of each of the 4 seasonal schedules, for all sailings during that season, meaning these reservations may be available up to 5 months in advance. APRIL 14 is the first day you can make reservations for all summer sailings from June 14 – September 21. The second 30% are released 2 weeks prior to sailing, and the third 30% are released 2 days prior to sailing. Each tier release of space opens online at 7:00 a.m.washington state ferries reservations

Tip: If you’re just coming for a day or two, you can leave your vehicle at the Anacortes Washington State Ferries Terminal (for a fee) and walk on the ferry to save time and money.

Once you arrive in Friday Harbor, you’ll find “Natsilane” in the harbor on the left side of Spring Street Landing (look for the big clock and green roof on the building at the end of the dock), just steps from where the ferries and float planes land.  (As you’re arriving on the ferry, look to the right and you’ll see her.)  “Natsilane” is white with a green hull.
